I fell in love with painting on porcelain 25 years ago, the first time I saw a brush change a plain white porcelain plate to a work of art. After that, I attended private classes and as many seminars as I could for the next several years before starting to teach classes of my own. My collection of antique lamps inspired me to pursue glass painting and have painted dozens of matching shades for antique bases as well as to co-ordinate with a clients decor.
I devoted myself full time to painting upon closing a retail home design and decorating shoppe 7 years ago. The experience of the decorating store as well as the products I was used to working with led me to design and paint custom tiles, sinks and walls for residential and commercial clients.
My desire to see this ancient art form survive has led me to teach regular local classes and to travel and teach seminars. I have been involved in a variety of porcelain art organizations through the years dedicated to the promotion, encouragement and education of this fine art. I have held a variety of offices in Country Porcelain Artists and The New York State Organization of China Painters including past president of each. I am past vice-president of Convention for the World Organization of China Painters [WOCP]. I am a member of The International Porcelain Artists and Teachers [IPAT] and The Professional Porcelain Artists Association [ PPAA] for which I am on staff as a teacher at the school in Cazenovia, NY. In addition, I have had my work on exhibit at the WOCP headquarters museum in Oaklahoma and published in trade magazines. I also served several years on the Board of Directors for the Wyoming County Arts Council.
In addition I have had my work featured at the WOCP headquarters in Oklahoma and in their magazine as well as the Fall 2004 issue of Signature Kitchen and Bath and the Jan/Feb 2006 issue of the Porcelain and Glass Painting magazine. I have also served on the Board of Directors for The Wyoming County Arts Council.
